SLR Camera Cases – Types

A SLR camera is a bulky and delicate instrument. When kept in store or while travelling SLR camera cases are inevitable for the photographer. Besides, the SLR cameras come with many accessories like additional lenses and other camera gears like a camera stand. Appropriate SLR camera cases are the only solution, whether you are a travelling photographer or not (a travelling photographer has more use of his or her SLR camera cases).

Before briefly describing the types of SLR camera cases, it is necessary to know a few important aspects of a SLR camera case. Firstly, always look for cases that have fewer openings and less hanging parts. Although you may think that many pockets will be useful, the fact is that the more the number of openings, the more is the risk of the camera parts being affected by hazardous agents of water (water droplets) and wind (dust particles). The slinging parts of a SLR camera case make the case more accident-prone. Always look for water resistant ballistic nylon fabric (or a completely sealable bag) to prevent water entering the camera. Secondly, the case should also be able to protect the camera from handling shocks, so always use a main compartment padded with shock-absorbant foam.

While deciding on the SLR camera case you have to estimate beforehand how much camera gear you are going to carry and how much are you going to travel.

There are primarily three types of SLR camera cases. The first type is the form-fitting cases that are specifically made for specific cameras. The manufacturer of the camera generally manufactures this type of SLR camera case, so you will have to find the form fitting case information from the manufacturer’s website.

The second type of SLR camera case is the fanny bags or the small camera bags that can be attached to the waist. Remember to check the durability of the waistband and do a weight endurance test by putting the camera in it and checking the bag. If you feel that, your cameras is incompatible with a particular SLR waist SLR camera case, then leave that one and try another one. These bags are not designed to carry a lot of gear and they are a great way of travel with your camera on a hiking trip.

The last category of SLR camera case is the backpack or sling bag. If you are carrying considerable gear, more than one camera and travelling a lot, then the backpack type should be the automatic choice for you. The backpacks also contain a space for safekeeping the laptop. The Lowepro Vertex 200 AW is a good choice in the third category of SLR camera cases. SLR Camera Cases SLR Camera Cases
